The congregation’s Progressive Consulting Rabbi, Allison Conyer, is paying her first visit to our shul this weekend, and will be starting off in her new role by leading this Erev Shabbat service.
Locals and visitors alike are invited to join in welcoming the Shabbat as well as Rabbi Allison while enjoying the convivial atmosphere.
Everyone present can extend the joy of this Shabbat evening by staying on after the service for a communal vegetarian meal that will be served in the shul. Please advise numbers intending to come and any dietary requirements in an email to this address, so that catering requirements can be assessed accurately.
During her stay in Hobart, Rabbi Allison will also conduct a Shabbat morning service that will include a baby-naming ceremony for Abigail Schneider, who was born in August last year. Abigail’s parents, Lisa Eckstein and Jeff Schneider, are marking the occasion by hosting a vegetarian kiddush after the morning service.
Rabbi Allison was appointed as Hobart Hebrew Congregation’s Progressive Consulting Rabbi in the middle of last year, replacing Rabbi Jonathan Keren-Black, who had served in the role since 2010. More information about her appointment is available here.
