Group Settlement Can Prevent Decline In Tasmania
January 21 1949
Rabbi Hugo Stransky visits to conduct a Bar Mitzvah service, the third in 25 years. Rabbi Stransky says there are 23 congregation members and many more Jews in the area who hide their Judaism. There are 12 school age children. Rabbi Stransky advocates for mainland congregations to assist Tasmanian Jews, there should be a reader and teacher, ministers should visit monthly, and immigrants should be encouraged to settle in Tasmania.
