Transcription

Sunday January 16th 1842

At a meeting held at the house of Mr Isaac Friedman. It was proposed by Mr Moss and seconded by Mr David Moses that Mr Louis Nathan be apointed president for the time being. Carried.

It was further proposed that in consequence of Mr Louis Nathan being apointed President for the time being it is necessary to Elect a Committee man in his stead and it was proposed by Mr Judah Solomon and seconded by Mr David Moses that Mr Phillip Levy Junr be appointed for the time being. Carried

It was also proposed by Mr David Moses and seconded by Mr Judah Solomon that a collector and Messenger be appointed to the Society also that he receive a sallary at the Rate of 10pr cent upon all monies raised by him on Behalf of the Society. Carried

It was proposed by Mr H S Benjamin and seconded by Mr David Moses that Mr Phillip Phillips be appointed as Collector and Messenger to the above Society for the time being.

It was also proposed by Mr P Levy Senr and seconded by Mr I Solomon Junr that on this day fortnightly a meeting be called for the purpose of investigating the funds and Balancing the Books of the Society. (carried)
This meeting was accordingly adjourned until this day fortnightly.
