Letter

Palmam Qui Meruit Ferat.
January 19 1872
Philip Levy writes a letter correcting the record that it was Louis Nathan who was "the real pioneer of orthodox Judaism" in the colony. Levy states that Nathan led the building of the synagogue, and by example observed Shabbat and promoted charity and education. This is in reply that Abraham Hort was responsible for establishing Jewish practice in Hobart Town.
