Sunday 30th June 1844 General Meeting The President in the Chair1st
It was Resolved that this Society in future be denominated the Hebrew Congregation of Hobart Town, Van Diemen’s Land
2nd
That the Laws now read from no. 1 to 69 inclusive be confirmed 3rd
That these Laws be in force from the first day of Tishrei ??? 5605/1844
The President stated to the Meeting that he had received a letter from Sir Moses Montefiore Knight who stated that he had applied to the Deputies of the British Jews on behalf of the Congregation and that he would forward their reply – and at the same time enclosing a Cheque for Five pounds as his own Donation to the Synagogue.
It was resolved that the thanks of the Meeting be tendered to Sir Moses Montefiore Knight for his Donation towards the Synagogue.
Messrs David Moses and David Heckscher fined the sum of two shillings and sixpence each for non-attendance.
The President having left the Chair it was unanimously resolved that the thanks for the meeting be presented to Louis Nathan Esqre President for his able conduct in the chair.
